About

(14K) Gold-fill

Gold-fill is a very popular alternative to solid gold because of its quality, durability and affordability. The metal is easy to care for and when properly maintained, it will keep its golden shine for a lifetime. 14K gold-fill consists of a substantial layer of 14K gold which has been pressure bonded with a high amount of heat onto a core of quality jeweler’s brass or sterling silver. For more detailed info, please refer to the "Metals" section in the main menu.

About

Solid Gold

Pure gold is 24 Karat. It is much too soft to hold its shape though and is therefore mixed / alloyed with other metals for jewelry making & wearing purposes. Karats refer to the alloy’s purity. For example: 18 karat gold is 18/24, which is ¾th pure or 75 percent pure.

About

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is considered a precious metal and is made almost completely from pure silver. It is an alloy containing 92.5% by weight of solid silver with most likely copper as the remaining metal. It is one of the most commonly used precious metals in high-quality jewelry and accessories. True Sterling Silver is popularly referred to as 925 Sterling Silver or just 925 Silver. It is a great hypoallergenic alternative, since it’s much less likely to cause an irritation or an allergic reaction than non-precious metals. Sterling silver tarnishes naturally and is often purposely oxidized to create a vintage effect on jewelry pieces.
